Why Become a Mason?
Every Mason has his own reasons for joining a lodge. For many it is about creating lasting friendships, some of them decades long. For others it’s also about giving back to their community through volunteering with organizations like the Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity and many others. Some men are drawn to the connection Masonry has with American history through founding fathers like George Washington, Benjamin Franklin and Sam Adams, to name just a few.
Freemasons are found in virtually every town in America and around the world. No matter where you go, you can find immediate connections, camaraderie and involvement in the community. Masons support their fellow members in good times and bad, with an unbreakable bond of brotherhood.
There’s a saying in Freemasonry that “we take good men and make them better”. That’s certainly true, and in so many different ways. Whether that’s through deeper friendships, community service, or accomplishment within the world’s oldest fraternity, there are as many ways to improve oneself as a Mason.
